John Kear is currently pursuing an M.A. in Global Studies through the Erasmus Mundus Global Studies Consortium. He received his B.A in German and History from Duke University. His analysis of expert culture and technological catastrophe, “In Case of Emergency: The Function of East and West German Experts after the Nuclear Catastrophe of Chernobyl,” earned the William T. Laprade prize for most outstanding senior thesis of the year in the history department.
