Joris Mercelis

Joris Mercelis is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of History and the Sarton Centre for History of Science at Ghent University in Belgium. His current research focuses on issues of openness and intellectual property in the development of photographic technology since the mid-nineteenth century. Previously, in his Ph.D. project, he used the career of Belgian-American chemical innovator Leo H. Baekeland (1863-1944) as a case study for examining science-industry relations.
