Hartmut Berghoff was director of the German Historical Institute Washington DC from 2008-2015. He currently is director of the Institute for Economic and Social History at the University of Göttingen. He has researched and taught at the University of Bielefeld, the University of Tübingen, Humboldt University Berlin, the Beisheim Graduate School of Management Koblenz, Harvard Business School and Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, Paris. For his extensive publications in the fields of business history, cultural and economic history and the history of consumption and consumerism, Hartmut Berghoff has received numerous awards and honors.
