Deutschland, an Ocean Liner of the Hamburg-American Line, ca. 1905

This photograph shows the Deutschland, a Hamburg-American ocean liner, at the company’s Hoboken piers. After Crown Prince Heinrich of Prussia, the younger brother of Kaiser Wilhelm II, concluded his celebrated trip to America in 1902, he sailed back to Germany on the Deutschland. Boas and other high-ranking company officials dined with the price on board the ship before his departure. Photograph by Detroit Publishing Co., ca. 1905.
