This aerial shot of Proximity Mills and the adjoining workers’ village dates from about 1925. At that point, the mill was thirty years old and had been expanded several times. It accommodated 1,600 looms and 53,000 spindles. From Carl J. Balliett, World Leadership in Denims Through Thirty Years of Progress; Dedicated to the Founders of the Cone Mills at Greensboro, North Carolina (Greensboro, NC: Proximity Print Works, 1925), n.p.
