Guldman, Leopold, ca. 1915

Portrait of Leopold Guldman (1852-1936) in his early sixties. Guldman, a Bavarian-born Jewish immigrant, moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1879. That same year, he established the Golden Eagle Dry Goods Company, which quickly became one of Denver’s leading popular price department stores. Over time, Guldman developed a reputation as a commercial and civic leader and as a generous supporter of charitable causes.
