Panoramic view of the principal buildings of the Anheuser-Busch brewing plant in St. Louis, c. 1881. This photograph was taken approximately a year after Eberhard Anheuser passed away and Busch acquired full control of the company. The main office can be seen on the far right; grain elevator towers appear in the center of the scene (slightly behind the main office); a boiler room (with three stacks on top of it) is visible slightly left of center, and the first brew house can be seen on the left. Knowing that investing in the physical plant would lead to greater profits later on, Busch set about to improve and expand the brewery.
