Nathan Benjamin Appel, n.d.

Nathan Benjamin Appel, n.d. German-born Appel was an investor in the Sonora Exploring and Mining Company of Arizona Territory. The multilingual Appel was the first Jewish settler in Arizona and assisted the company during its years in operation. He also operated a mercantile business and worked as a wagonmaster. Appel served as a deputy sheriff for Pima County and a deputy U.S. Marshall before moving to Los Angeles and working for the police force there in the late 1800s.
