Schiff, Jacob and his wife Therese, n.d.

This photograph shows Jacob Schiff and his wife Therese (née Loeb) walking behind an unidentified man. Schiff, a first-generation German-Jewish immigrant from Frankfurt, was the son-in-law of Solomon Loeb, one of the co-founders of the prestigious firm Kuhn, Loeb & Company. In 1885, Schiff took over leadership of the firm, which, under his guidance, rose to even greater prominence and influence. Kuhn, Loeb was a frequent participant in Morgan-organized syndicates.
