David G. Yuengling’s Eagle Brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, ca. 1835

Illustration depicting the front of David G. Yuengling’s Eagle Brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, around the year 1835. David Yuengling rebuilt the brewery at its present location after a fire destroyed the original brewery in 1832. The D.G. Yuengling & Son logo at the top of the illustration indicates that the document was produced after David Yuengling’s son, Frederick, joined the firm in 1873 and it was given its current name. The illustration shows how the brewery was built into a hill, which provided storage for beer, particularly lager, in the tunnels that ran beneath the hill.
