Christian Luis Mannhardt portrait, 1804

C.L. Mannhardt, of Maulbronn, Württemberg, was part of a new generation of German immigrants who took advantage of the rising trade in the port of Baltimore. He was an influential figure in German immigration to the city, as well as in the civic affairs of German Americans in the Baltimore and Philadelphia regions. I am grateful to Lisa Minardi for identifying the location of this portrait.
