Guenther, Carl's New Mill, completed in 1868

Photo of Guenther's New Mill, completed in 1868. Because of increasing demand and insufficient water power at the original site on the San Antonio River, Guenther built a new mill across from the United States Arsenal in 1868, a quarter-mile above his first mill. The Upper Mill ground mostly corn, barley, rye, and other grains but was the main retail outlet for flour and cornmeal.
