“Curling the doll’s hair and gets paid for it,” 1920

Description

Schoenhut “All Wood Perfection Art Dolls” were so true to life that Schoenhut factory employees spent hours curling the dolls’ hair, so that they would be perfectly – and realistically – coiffed. According to the caption of this photograph from the Evening public ledger (Philadelphia), Marie Green, the Schoenhut worker pictured here, curled the hair of 125 dolls per day.
