Weyerhaeuser Tree Farm in Washington State, n.d.

In the first half of the twentieth century, the Weyerhaeuser Company took steps to make lumber production sustainable for future generations. The company promoted conservation and developed long-term forest growth initiatives. As part of this, it established the nation’s first “tree farm” in southwestern Washington in 1941.
