Description

The Metropolitan Savings Bank Building, New York City. The structure was built in 1867 for the bank. It became a church in 1937. The bank was originally chartered by Peter Schenck and others as the Mariners’ Savings Institution of New York. It changed its name to the Metropolitan Savings Bank in 1865 and remained in business for more than a century.
