Immigrant Entrepreneurship Project Featured in Journal of American Ethnic History Summer 2014 Issue
The German Historical Institute’s Immigrant Entrepreneurship project is featured prominently in the Summer 2014 issue of the Journal of American Ethnic History. IE team member Benjamin Schwantes contributed an article (accessible via JSTOR) on using the IE website as a teaching resource for students as part of a forum organized by the journal. The article discusses ways in which the biographical articles and primary-source materials on the website may be used to teach students about immigration and ethnic history, as well as transnational history, globalization, capitalism, entrepreneurship, and historical methodology. Schwantes provides examples of how various German immigrant entrepreneurs could be used to address each of these subject areas.
