Exploring German-American Business Biographies
A History Resource for Teachers and Students
This online project of the German Historical Institute Washington DC covers three centuries of German immigration and entrepreneurship in the United States. When complete, it will feature two hundred biographies of notable first-and second-generation German-American businesspeople. In addition to the biographies, the website offers thematic background essays and relevant primary source material such as business records, photographs, and video clips. Bibliographies provide information on useful secondary sources and links to archives and libraries with collections of interest. This presentation provides a short introduction for educators and students to some of these resources available on the Immigrant Entrepreneurship website.
