Bryan Hart joined the German Historical Institute Washington, DC, in 2007 after completing his M.A. in political science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to working at the GHI, Bryan was a research assistant at the Atlantic Council of the United States, where he worked closely with the Council’s executive director on a book project. He has also interned at the Berlin Institute for Comparative Social Science, working within the coordination team of the European Migration Network, a European Commission-sponsored research network on migration. Bryan manages the website for the Immigrant Entrepreneurship project.

Her dissertation uses the case of Chinese migration to the United States at the end of the nineteenth through early twentieth century to analyze the interactions between migrants, businesses, local communities, and state institutions. In 2013, Marina was a recipient of the GHI International Business History doctoral fellowship that allowed her to explore the links between global migration, advertising, and consumption. She is currently finalizing an article on the visual politics of advertising the migrant ‘other’ both in Europe and the United States. Previously, Marina has published articles on human trafficking, migration, and citizenship. In addition to the GHI Fellowship, Marina is also a recipient of the New School Frank Altschul fellowship in Politics and the India-China Institute Student Fellowship. Currently, Marina teaches Social Enterprise Administration and International Development at Columbia University; she also teaches World Civilizations at Pratt Institute. </p>
