Prominent Sections in Ringling Bros. Big New Parade. A Tremendous Spectacular Free Street Carnival

This circus poster shows five separate parades of people and animals: a “caravan crossing the desert,” a “children's fairyland,” “famous mounted military companies of the world,” “warfare in the Punjab,” and “national English derby day.” After the turn of the century, as automobiles began to crowd city streets, it became increasingly difficult for the Ringling Brothers to mount the elaborate opening-day parades for which they had become famous over the years.
