3-Mar-15

An advocate of world peace, Filene became deeply involved in national and international affairs. In 1915, Filene and other prominent Americans, including Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Alexander Graham Bell, and former president William Howard Taft, formed the League to Enforce Peace (LEP). Organized after the outbreak of the First World War, the LEP advocated the formation of an international body to promote world peace. From: The Day Book (Chicago), March 3, 1915.
