Heurich Brewery Malt Bill
Malt is one of the basic ingredients to beer. In 1887 Heurich purchased about 90,000 bushels of malt, about 1,500 tons. These two receipts show purchases of malt from a company in Canada in the summer of 1887. The price varied from 87 ½ cents per bushel to 91 ½ cents per bushel. Heurich was a careful businessman. You can see his corrections on the bottom receipt, where he adjusted to bill to reflect that he had received less grain than it said on the receipt.
