“Germany watches! The war ends quickest with the Liberty Loan soonest sold – Do your bit and do it now!”
This poster by the Liberty Loan Committee implored Americans to subscribe to liberty loans to support the war effort. Although the campaign was directed at all American citizens, German-Americans were under particular pressure to contribute in order to demonstrate their patriotism. The poster features a German Pickelhaube, a type of helmet that symbolized the German (particularly the Prussian) military.
