Photographic chemicals were a mainstay of the Mallinckrodt Company, which kept a careful eye on developments in the rapidly evolving field of photography. In 1932, the company issued an ambitious product guide entitled The Chemistry of Photography. According to the company, the guidebook included more than “the latest prices on photographic chemicals.” It was, in the company’s words, their response to a demand from photographers for “a simple explanation of the chemistry of photography.”
