William H. Stevenson, III

A native of South Carolina, William H. Stevenson, III received his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois and is now a chemical consultant in Huntsville, Alabama working principally in the area of propellants and explosives. He has been a freelance writer for more than fifteen years, with a particular interest in topics on business and history. His articles have been published in Business Alabama, Family Business Magazine, Risk Management Magazine, Today’s Chemist at Work, Baltimore, Solar Today, Toastmaster, and Sky and Telescope. His February 2013 article in Sky and Telescope entitled, “The Moon and the Mystery of the Hunley,” analyzed the influence of the moon and the tides on the attack of the Confederate submarine Hunley on the Union blockader Housatonic.
